Dream It, Plan It, Do It: Grindstone Tips and Tricks

There are a lot of tips and tricks on composition out there, so to accompany them, here is a list of tips and tricks on setting goals and staying committed.
Make a list. Outline your writing goals for the next month, quarter, or year in 100 words or less. The word limit will help you to succinctly define what you want to accomplish.
Set SMART goals: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-Bound. Go through your list of goals and ask yourself whether they fit those parameters. Take your lifestyle and other commitments into account.
Identify obstacles. Ask yourself what obstacles may prevent you from attaining your writing goals, and make a plan for overcoming them.
Identify benefits. Goals must have a benefit in order for you to stay committed to them. Identify what will inspire you to stay motivated even when the going gets tough.
Commit to a schedule. Block out time for regular writing sessions and set a timeline for each goal.
Get an accountability partner. Team up with another writer and make plans to check in periodically to share your respective progress. You can also schedule regular writing marathons or sprints with your accountability partner—it’s a great way to stay motivated!
