JCW Supports National Novel Writing

Jersey City Writers (JCW), in our efforts to build a community of dedicated scribes, is supporting National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo).  National Novel Writing Month is a “fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to creative writing,” according to NaNoWriMo’s website.

Writers — who participant in NaNoWriMo — are challenged to produce a first draft of a novel in the month of November.  The goal is to write 50,000 words in 30 days.

In order to assist all NaNoWriMo writers, JCW has an expanded schedule.  In addition to its 15 events each month, we also are hosting:

  • NaNoWriMo Mixer.  Participating writers get to meet fellow writers and talk about novel.  Writers can also get direct feedback on their novel synopsis or craft it with the help of their peers.
  • Writing Marathon.  We also will be hosting 12 additional Writing Marathons in support of NaNoWriMo.  Please check here for a full list of events.
  • Self-Publishing Panel.  To close out NaNoWriMo, JCW will also host a panel of self-published Jersey City authors on December 4.

We made news in August 2013 with its Submit It or Quit It Challenge.
