In The Ethernet

The following piece was presented at Jersey City Writers’ literary event – 800 Dirty Words. Please enjoy.

I watch as you go through your routines
Secluded behind a partition
Where your bits are turned into bites
And reprogrammed into
sounds and images
They explode across your screen
You have rendered defenseless
And I will do with you as I see fit
I take down your partition
And allow a gigantic a pop-up
I am your graphic processor
And explore all your points of access
We merge for all to see
I corrupt you at will
You perform an illegal operation
Will you abort?
I penetrate your firewall
And into your most sensitive places
Your defenses crumble
As the worm I buried in a Trojan
Makes deeper and deeper access
