Eye Beam

The following piece was presented at Jersey City Writers’ genre event – Jersey Plums Poetry Reading. Please enjoy.

I am what I see
There is no more debate, we’ve got it
That vision’s images
Go to the eye, which receives them
With exhales, with a loosening of muscles
With a long awaited embrace

Plato said our eyes give off light
Eye beams for all
He was wrong, but I wish he wasn’t
I wish the inside could project out
I want my senses united
I want the world around me
To bear my mark

How many lifetimes does it take,
To find a place that looks like you do
On the inside?
