7 Writing Opportunities in June

Looking for a place to submit your poem, short story or nonfiction piece.  JCW has compiled a list of 7 opportunities not to miss this much.  They include:

Salamander 2015 Fiction Price
Salamander is a nationally recognized magazine that publishes literary works of transformative power.  Prize include a $1,500 honorarium and publication.  Deadline: June 1

JCW’s Memoir Vignettes
JCW is currently looking for short vignettes that encapsulate an important life experience.  If your piece is accepted, it will be published on the Jersey City Writers website and presented on June 17. Deadline:  June 1

American Short Fiction
American Short Fiction seeks short fiction in contemporary literature. In addition to its triannual print magazine, American Short Fiction also publishes stories (under 2,000 words) online.  Deadline:  Ongoing

Philadelphia Stories’ 7th Annual McGlinn Fiction Contest
This annual national short fiction contest features a first place $2,000 cash award and invitation to an awards dinner.  Deadline:  6/15

2015 Curt Johnson Prose Awards
This year’s judges are Joyce Carol Oates (fiction) and Albert Goldbarth (nonfiction). Each entry should not exceed 8,000 words. Deadline: 6/15

Hunger Mountain: The VCFA Journal for the Arts
Hunger Mountain is currently accepting Young Adult and Children’s Literature.  Deadline:  Ongoing

2015 May Sarton New Hampshire Poetry Prize
Bauhan Publishing holds its poetry contest.  The winner receives $1,000, book publication and 100 copies of the published book. Deadline: 6/30
